Where we fit tyres in Portsmouth

New tyres fitted and punctures repaired at your home, workplace or roadside anywhere on Portsea Island and across the Portsmouth area, from Southsea and Fratton to Cosham, Drayton and Port Solent. 24-hour emergency call-outs and same-day appointments.

PO1 to PO6

Portsea Island and Cosham

PO7 to PO11

Havant, Waterlooville and Hayling

PO12 to PO16

Gosport and Fareham

Portsmouth is a tight, busy city. Most of Portsea Island is terraced streets with permit parking, which is exactly where mobile fitting makes sense: we pull up beside the car, fit the tyre in the road and are gone in around half an hour. We cover the city centre and Old Portsmouth (PO1), North End, Hilsea and Stamshaw (PO2), Copnor, Baffins and Anchorage Park (PO3), Milton, Eastney and east Southsea (PO4), Southsea (PO5), and Cosham, Drayton, Farlington, Paulsgrove, Wymering and Port Solent on the mainland side of Portsbridge (PO6).

Beyond the island we fit regularly in Portchester, Fareham and Whiteley, Gosport and Lee-on-the-Solent, Havant, Bedhampton and Leigh Park, Waterlooville, Purbrook and Denmead, Horndean and Cowplain, Emsworth and Hayling Island. If you are not sure whether we reach you, contact us or call and we will tell you straight away.

Spare tyre and tools ready at the roadside

Flat Tyre on the Way to the Ferry?

Portsmouth International Port on Wharf Road sends ferries to Caen, Cherbourg, St Malo, Santander, Bilbao and the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Wight boats leave from Gunwharf Road and the Hard. A puncture found at five in the morning on the M275 slip road with a sailing to catch is one of the most common calls we get. Tell us your sailing time when you ring and we will tell you honestly whether a tyre can be fitted before check-in. We can meet you on the approach roads and in the car parks around the port; inside the port gates the port's own traffic rules apply.

We also look after commuters and fleets along the M27 between junctions 11 and 12, the A27 at Portsbridge and Farlington, and the A3(M) towards Horndean and Petersfield. If the tyre has shredded or the wheel is damaged, a flatbed from our recovery service can take the car to a garage of your choice.

Why tyres fail in Portsmouth

Kerb damage on terraced streets

Parking nose to tail in Fratton, Southsea and North End means plenty of kerb strikes. A scuffed sidewall with a bulge cannot be repaired and needs a new tyre before it lets go at speed on the Eastern Road.

Potholes after a wet winter

Copnor Road, Kingston Road, Goldsmith Avenue and the back streets off Fratton Road take a beating every winter. A pothole can split the inner sidewall where you cannot see it, so if the car pulls or the wheel vibrates, have it checked.

Salt air and seafront corrosion

Cars that live near Southsea seafront, Eastney and Old Portsmouth suffer corroded alloy rims, which cause slow leaks around the bead. We clean and seal the rim when we refit, which often cures a tyre that keeps going down.

Debris on the M27 and M275

Screws, bolts and shed lorry tread on the M27, M275 and A27 cause a steady stream of punctures. Most are in the tread and can be repaired; we check the whole tyre first and tell you if it is safe.

How a call-out works

1

Call or WhatsApp with your tyre size and your postcode. The size is printed on the sidewall, for example 205/55 R16. If you cannot read it, send a photo of the sidewall and your registration and we will look it up.

2

We quote a fixed price that includes the tyre, fitting, balancing, a new valve, disposal of the old tyre and VAT, then agree a time. For emergencies in Portsmouth we aim for 30 to 60 minutes; booked jobs are usually same day or next day.

3

The fitter arrives in a fully equipped van, fits and balances the tyre next to the car, checks the pressures on the other three and takes the old tyre away for recycling through a licensed waste carrier.

Questions people in Portsmouth ask

How fast can you get to me in Portsmouth?

For emergency call-outs on Portsea Island and in Cosham, Drayton and Port Solent we aim for 30 to 60 minutes, traffic on the M275 and Eastern Road permitting. Booked fittings are usually same day or next day at a time you choose. We give you an honest arrival time when you call.

Can you fit a tyre in a permit parking zone or a narrow street?

Yes. Most of our Portsmouth work is on terraced streets in Southsea, Fratton, North End and Copnor. The van only needs to stop beside the car for around half an hour, and we can work from the road, a driveway or a car park.

Can you reach me at Portsmouth International Port or the Wightlink terminal?

We can meet you on the public roads and car parks around Wharf Road, Gunwharf Road and the Hard. Once you have checked in and are inside the port, the port operator decides who can work on a vehicle, so call us before you go through the gates if you can.

Do you cover the M27, M275 and A27 around Portsmouth?

Yes, 24 hours a day. If you are on a live carriageway, get everyone out of the car and behind the barrier, then call us. On the hard shoulder we fit the tyre if it is safe to do so; otherwise we recover the car to a safer spot first and fit it there.

Can you fit tyres at my workplace in Portsmouth?

Yes. We regularly fit in office and business car parks at Lakeside North Harbour, around Northarbour, on Fratton Way and on the industrial estates off Walton Road and Airport Service Road. Ask us about fleet arrangements if you run several vehicles.

Do you repair punctures or only fit new tyres?

Both. A puncture in the central tread area is repaired to BS AU 159 for a flat fee. Damage to the sidewall, a tyre driven on while flat, or a bulge from a kerb strike cannot be repaired safely, and we will tell you so before we start.

Every area has its own page with local roads, postcodes and answers. You can also read about the full mobile tyre fitting service, our car towing and recovery service, or contact us with a question.

Stuck right now?

Do not wait at the roadside wondering who to call. One phone call gets a fitter or recovery truck on the way.
