What we do in Maidstone

New tyres supplied and fitted

On your driveway in Bearsted or Park Wood, at work on the Parkwood industrial estate or Eclipse Park, or beside the car at Lockmeadow. Budget, mid-range and premium brands for cars, vans and 4x4s.

Puncture repairs

To British Standard BS AU 159 for the screws, nails and lorry debris picked up on the M20, the A249 and Sutton Road.

24-hour emergency call-outs

For flat tyres on the M20 between junctions 5 and 8, on Blue Bell Hill and Detling Hill, and for anyone stranded in Maidstone at night with no usable spare.

Wheel balancing and TPMS sensor resets

With every tyre, so the car is steady at motorway speed on the M20 and the pressure warning light stays off.

Locking wheel nut removal

When the key is lost or rounded off, with a standard nut fitted in its place so the wheel comes off easily next time.

Recovery when a tyre cannot be fitted

On the spot, for example a wheel cracked by a pothole on Tonbridge Road or a sidewall cut in a lane near Loose. Our car towing and recovery service covers Maidstone, the M20 and the M2.

ME14 to ME16

Maidstone, Bearsted, Allington and Loose

ME17 to ME20

Lenham, Yalding, Kings Hill and Aylesford

TN12 and TN27

Marden, Staplehurst and Headcorn

Maidstone is Kent's county town, spread along the Medway with big post-war and new-build estates where parking is tight and a great deal of commuting on the M20. We cover the town centre, Penenden Heath, Grove Green, Vinters Park, Bearsted and Weavering (ME14), Shepway, Park Wood, Senacre, Mote Park, Tovil and Loose (ME15), and Allington, Barming, Fant and the Hermitage Lane side of town (ME16).

Out of town we fit regularly in Aylesford, Larkfield, Ditton and East Malling, Kings Hill and West Malling, Boxley and Detling, Hollingbourne, Harrietsham and Lenham along the A20, and Coxheath, Marden, Staplehurst and Headcorn to the south. If you are not sure whether we reach you, contact us or call and we will tell you straight away.

Puncture on the M20 or Blue Bell Hill?

The M20 runs along the north of Maidstone with four junctions serving the town, and when Operation Brock is on the coastbound carriageway between junctions 8 and 9 the queues and the contraflow turn a flat tyre into a serious problem. Call us as soon as you notice it. Tell us which junction you are near and whether you are coastbound or Londonbound, and we will tell you honestly how long we will be. We can meet you at the junction 7 services, at Eclipse Park, at Leeds Castle or in a car park in town rather than on the hard shoulder if that is safer.

The A229 over Blue Bell Hill to the M2 and the A249 up Detling Hill to Sittingbourne are both steep, fast and busy, and we attend both around the clock. We also look after commuters using Maidstone East and West, staff at Maidstone Hospital on Hermitage Lane, and fleets at Parkwood, 20/20 and Kings Hill. If the tyre is wrecked or the wheel is damaged, a flatbed from our recovery service can take the car to a garage of your choice.

Why tyres fail in Maidstone

Steep hills and heavy braking

Blue Bell Hill, Detling Hill and the climbs out of the Medway valley on Tonbridge Road and Loose Road wear the front tyres faster than flat roads do. Low tread on the fronts plus a wet descent is a bad combination, so check them before winter.

Lorry debris on the M20 and A249

Shed tread, steel wire and dropped fixings from Channel freight collect on the M20 between junctions 5 and 8 and on the A249 towards Sheerness. Most of the punctures we repair in Maidstone are tread punctures from this kind of debris.

Potholes on the main roads

Tonbridge Road, Sutton Road, Loose Road, Boxley Road and Hermitage Lane break up every winter. A pothole can split the inner sidewall where you cannot see it, so if the car pulls or the wheel vibrates, have it checked.

Tight parking on the estates

Shepway, Park Wood, Grove Green and the new estates at Langley Park and Kings Hill have narrow roads and cars parked half on the kerb. Kerb strikes bulge sidewalls and crack alloys, and neither can be repaired safely.

How a call-out works

1

Call or WhatsApp with your tyre size and your postcode. The size is printed on the sidewall, for example 205/55 R16. If you cannot read it, send a photo of the sidewall and your registration and we will look it up.

2

We quote a fixed price that includes the tyre, fitting, balancing, a new valve, disposal of the old tyre and VAT, then agree a time. For emergencies in Maidstone we aim for 30 to 60 minutes; booked jobs are usually same day or next day.

3

The fitter arrives in a fully equipped van, fits and balances the tyre next to the car, checks the pressures on the other three and takes the old tyre away for recycling through a licensed waste carrier.

Questions people in Maidstone ask

How quickly can you reach me in Maidstone?

For emergency call-outs in Maidstone, Bearsted, Allington and Aylesford we aim for 30 to 60 minutes, allowing for M20 and town centre traffic. Booked fittings are usually same day or next day at a time you choose. We give you an honest arrival time when you call.

What if I am stopped on the M20 near Maidstone?

Get everyone out of the car and behind the barrier, then call us. We attend the M20 between junctions 4 and 9 and the M2 at Blue Bell Hill 24 hours a day. If the hard shoulder is not safe to work on, or Operation Brock has closed it, we recover the car to a safe place first and fit the tyre there.

Do you cover Kings Hill, Headcorn and the villages?

Yes. Kings Hill, West Malling, Aylesford, Larkfield, Boxley, Detling, Hollingbourne, Lenham, Coxheath, Yalding, Marden, Staplehurst and Headcorn are all regular trips for us. Rural lanes in the Weald are no problem for the van.

Can you fit tyres at my workplace in Maidstone?

Yes. We regularly fit in car parks at Parkwood, 20/20 Business Park, Eclipse Park and Kings Hill, at Maidstone Hospital, at County Hall and in the retail parks around Newnham Court and Lockmeadow. Ask us about fleet arrangements if you run several vehicles.

Can you repair my puncture or do I need a new tyre?

If the hole is in the central tread area and the tyre has not been run flat, we repair it to BS AU 159 for a flat fee. Sidewall damage, bulges and tyres driven on while flat cannot be repaired safely, and we will tell you before we start.

Can you fit tyres on a new-build estate with no driveway?

Yes. We only need to stop beside the car for around half an hour, so a street in Langley Park, Kings Hill or Grove Green is fine. If parking is really tight we can meet you at the nearest car park or at work instead.

Stuck right now?

Do not wait at the roadside wondering who to call. One phone call gets a fitter or recovery truck on the way.
