What we do in Folkestone

New tyres supplied and fitted

At your home in Cheriton, Foord or Morehall, at work on Shearway Business Park or Park Farm, or in a car park by the Harbour Arm. Budget, mid-range and premium brands for cars, vans and 4x4s.

Puncture repairs

To British Standard BS AU 159 for the nails, screws and lorry debris picked up on the M20, the A20 and Cheriton Road.

24-hour emergency call-outs

For Le Shuttle passengers with a flat before check-in, drivers stuck on the M20 between junctions 11 and 13, and anyone stranded in Folkestone at night with no usable spare.

Wheel balancing and TPMS sensor resets

With every tyre, so the car is steady at motorway speed on the M20 and the pressure warning light stays off.

Locking wheel nut removal

When the key is lost or damaged, with a standard nut fitted in its place so the wheel comes off easily next time.

Recovery when a tyre cannot be fitted

At the roadside, for example a wheel bent by a pothole on the A259 at Sandgate. Our car towing and recovery service covers Folkestone, Hythe, Romney Marsh and the M20.

Where we fit tyres in Folkestone

New tyres fitted and punctures repaired at your home, workplace or roadside anywhere in Folkestone, from the Harbour and the Leas to Cheriton, Sandgate, Hawkinge and Hythe, and on the approaches to the Eurotunnel terminal at junction 11A of the M20. 24-hour emergency call-outs and same-day appointments.

CT19 and CT20

Folkestone, Cheriton and Sandgate

CT18

Hawkinge, Capel-le-Ferne and the Elham Valley

CT21

Hythe, Saltwood and Lympne

Folkestone climbs from the Harbour up to the Leas and on to the Downs, and much of the town is Victorian terraces with on-street parking, which suits mobile fitting perfectly. We cover the town centre, the Harbour and Creative Quarter, the Leas and the Bouverie Road area, Foord, East Cliff and Wear Bay, Morehall, Cheriton and Shorncliffe, Sandgate and Seabrook, plus the Park Farm and Shearway estates off Cherry Garden Avenue.

Beyond the town we fit regularly in Hythe, Saltwood and Lympne, in Hawkinge, Densole, Lyminge and Etchinghill up the A260, in Capel-le-Ferne on the A20 towards Dover, and down the A259 to Dymchurch and New Romney. Folkestone's CT19 and CT20 districts are our core patch here. If you are not sure whether we reach you, contact us or call and we will tell you straight away.

Flat Tyre Before Your Le Shuttle Crossing?

The Eurotunnel terminal at Cheriton sits on junction 11A of the M20, and thousands of cars a day check in there with a long motorway run behind them. If you spot a flat or a bulge on the way, call us before you reach the terminal: we can meet you at Stop 24 services at junction 11, in Cheriton or in a car park in town, and tell you honestly whether we can get you fitted before your crossing. Once you are inside the terminal, Eurotunnel's own staff decide where a vehicle can be worked on.

The same goes for the M20 between Ashford and Folkestone when Operation Brock is running, and for the A20 through the Roundhill Tunnel towards Dover. We also look after commuters using Folkestone Central and Folkestone West for the high-speed trains, and holiday traffic on the A259 coast road through Sandgate and Hythe. If the tyre is wrecked or the wheel is damaged, a flatbed from our recovery service can take the car wherever it needs to go.

Why tyres fail in Folkestone

Hills from the Leas to the Harbour

The Road of Remembrance, Castle Hill Avenue and the climb up to Hawkinge on the A260 work the front tyres hard. Worn fronts and a wet, steep descent are a poor mix, so keep an eye on tread depth.

Lorry debris on the M20 and A20

Shed tread, wire and dropped fixings from Channel freight collect on the M20 between junctions 9 and 13 and on the A20 through to Dover. Most punctures we see in Folkestone are tread punctures from this kind of debris, and most can be repaired.

Potholes and coastal roads

Winter potholes on Cheriton Road, Canterbury Road, Dover Road and the A259 at Sandgate can crack a wheel or split an inner sidewall. If the car pulls to one side or the steering shakes after a hit, have the tyre inspected.

Salt air and sun on the seafront

Cars kept near the seafront at Sandgate, the Harbour and Wear Bay suffer corroded alloys that leak at the bead, and sidewalls that crack with age. We clean and seal the rim on every fit and check the date code on older tyres.

How a call-out works

1

Call or WhatsApp with your tyre size and your postcode. The size is printed on the sidewall, for example 205/55 R16. If you cannot read it, send a photo of the sidewall and your registration and we will look it up.

2

We quote a fixed price that includes the tyre, fitting, balancing, a new valve, disposal of the old tyre and VAT, then agree a time. For emergencies in Folkestone we aim for 30 to 60 minutes; booked jobs are usually same day or next day.

3

The fitter arrives in a fully equipped van, fits and balances the tyre next to the car, checks the pressures on the other three and takes the old tyre away for recycling through a licensed waste carrier.

Questions people in Folkestone ask

How quickly can you reach me in Folkestone?

For emergency call-outs in Folkestone, Cheriton, Sandgate and Hythe we aim for 30 to 60 minutes, allowing for M20 traffic. Booked fittings are usually same day or next day at a time you choose. We give you an honest arrival time when you call.

Can you fit a tyre before my Eurotunnel crossing?

Often, yes, if you call as soon as you notice the problem and tell us your check-in time. We can meet you at Stop 24 at junction 11, in Cheriton or in town. If we cannot make it in time we will say so straight away. Inside the terminal you must follow Eurotunnel's instructions.

Do you cover Hythe, Hawkinge and the villages?

Yes. Hythe, Saltwood, Lympne, Seabrook, Hawkinge, Densole, Lyminge, Etchinghill, Capel-le-Ferne, Dymchurch and New Romney are all regular trips. Narrow lanes in the Elham Valley are no problem for the van.

What if I am stopped on the M20 near Folkestone?

Get everyone out of the car and behind the barrier, then call us. We attend the M20 between junctions 9 and 13 and the A20 to Dover 24 hours a day. If the hard shoulder is not safe to work on, or Operation Brock has closed it, we recover the car to a safe place first and fit the tyre there.

Can you repair my puncture or do I need a new tyre?

If the hole is in the central tread area and the tyre has not been run flat, we repair it to BS AU 159 for a flat fee. Sidewall damage, bulges and tyres driven on while flat cannot be repaired safely, and we will tell you before we start.

Can you fit tyres at my workplace in Folkestone?

Yes. We regularly fit in car parks at Shearway Business Park, Park Farm and Shorncliffe, on the business parks around Cheriton, and for shops and cafes around the Harbour and Creative Quarter. Ask us about fleet arrangements if you run several vehicles.
